Who we need

Establishes overarching media strategy and develops media plans to support business objectives and revenue goals. Identifies media mix requirements in a manner that leverages cost efficiencies while addressing key consumer audiences via Digital (Search, Display, Social, Programmatic), Print, Out of Home (e.g. outdoor, billboards etc.) Radio, and National and Local Broadcast and Cable. Oversees all the media strategy, planning and insights for all media channels. Integrates strategic business needs with media/communications program to address business objectives. Will work across many of the clients at Marketsmith.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Work with account teams to develop media strategy briefs.
  • Learn all phases of the clients’ marketing objectives.
  • Prepare and present media plans, as needed, including objectives, strategy, rationale, and all backup materials.
  • Supervise the execution of media plans, including preparation of media budgets, schedules of insertions, contracts, and supporting materials.
  • Analyze and review market research across all active clients and utilize in development of media plans
  • Work side-by-side with the data analytics team to ensure media plan is being guided by client data insight
  • Prepare media authorizations per approved plans/project requests.
  • Prepare buy releases upon client authorizations.
  • Prepare budget recaps for clients.
  • Train and supervise planners in all media (digital, broadcast TV/Radio; consumer and trade magazines; newspapers; outdoor; direct marketing; etc.)
  • Monitor broadcast buyers during the negotiations process and check final buys for adherence to guidelines.
  • Participate in new business project assignments.
  • Assist accounting department in all client billing and reconciling variances and assuring proper payments.
  • Maintain close contact with all media representatives seeking ways to better communicate with buying influence and seeking detailed information on market conditions.
  • Attend outside representations by the media for the purpose of evaluating new information/services and to maintain good rapport with sales representatives; maintains a high professional profile.
  • Actively solicits information relative to accounts which are, or could be, considering an agency change.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree plus 8+ years of progressive experience, preferably in a large media agency environment
  • Expertise in local market and national planning across all media channels- offline and online
  • Direct Response and general market media experience a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Client facing with strong presentation skills
  • Strong collaboration and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of data analytics and media mix modeling to
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
