Recently, as Marketsmith, Inc. expands its State and Federal work into Delaware, I had the privilege of being introduced to the incredible
Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ). Supporting this remarkable nonprofit has been both an honor and a learning experience.
I want to celebrate
Kathleen Schell of Ocean Sotheby’s and
Preston Schell of Ocean Atlantic, who were honored alongside the extraordinary Charlotte King at SDARJ’s event. Kathleen and Preston, as individuals and partners, exemplify sophistication, hard work, and generosity, sharing their success and joy with everyone they encounter. What began as a professional relationship with them has grown into a deep friendship that has allowed Amy Allan Smith and me to expand our philanthropic footprint.
Through them, I had the honor of meeting Charlotte King, whose story is nothing short of inspiring. As Chair and Co-Founder of SDARJ, Charlotte’s lifelong work to combat racism and promote equity is awe-inspiring. Her leadership, from peaceful protests to providing scholarships for students pursuing higher education, has created a profound legacy. (If you don’t know her story, read it here:

At the event, I also had the privilege of hearing
Lisa Blunt Rochester speak. Her vision for a stronger, more inclusive world is deeply inspiring. Her words, paired with her heartfelt acknowledgment of Charlotte’s work, left a lasting impact on me.
